I came to the intersection of health, technology, and education through clinical practice and research.

My path has not been linear, but deliberately hybrid.

My name is Luis Martín Sacristán. I am a PhD in Health Sciences, a physiotherapist, and a university lecturer. My work focuses on connecting science, clinical practice, and innovation, and on helping professionals develop the judgment needed to move meaningfully across these domains.

Throughout my career, I have worked in clinical, academic, technological, and industry settings. I was a researcher at the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CSIC) and completed an MBA in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies, which gave me a first-hand understanding of how innovation, industry, and decision-making operate beyond academia.

In line with this approach, I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, as a deliberate effort to deepen my understanding of the technological foundations shaping health, innovation, and education today.

I am a lecturer and researcher at the European University of the Canary Islands, where I contribute to the design and academic leadership of programs aimed at training hybrid profiles, particularly at the intersection of health, technology, and biomedical engineering.

My work is structured around four interconnected areas:

• University teaching and academic leadership, focused on training professionals who can integrate clinical, technological, and ethical knowledge.

• Applied research in health and healthcare technology, aimed at improving clinical practice and decision-making in real-world contexts.

• Innovation and knowledge transfer, connecting universities, industry, and healthcare systems through a rigorous and sustainable approach.

• Scientific writing and thinking, as tools to understand complexity, challenge inertia, and articulate useful conceptual frameworks.

I am also the founder of Saluteca, a platform dedicated to education, dissemination, and community-building at the intersection of health and technology. Through this work, I have participated in several innovation and acceleration programs, including initiatives linked to Banco Santander, Wayra (Telefónica), and Y Combinator, exploring different models of knowledge transfer between academia, industry, and society.

Writing is where all these strands come together. I write not to oversimplify, but to think clearly, develop useful frameworks, and support those who want to build hybrid professional profiles in an increasingly complex system.
